I am in a class this semester called about the Unity/Restoration movement.
When I think about unity, I often think: Is it a lost cause?
I am going to post a big post about this later this week or next week. I wonder what you think. Do you think that unity is a possibility, or is it a lost cause to try to work toward?
Any thoughts?

Is "unity" a lost cause? To be perfectly honest...no. Do I think that it is going to happen (all of Christ's followers, finally united under the principles and ideas of the Restoration Movements definition of "unity)... no.
I do, however, think that if we write it off as a lost cause, we do the Body of Christ as great disservice. I also believe that younger generations have a greater chance of seeing a "unification" of sorts than generations past.
It is a lengthy discussion but, look at the "emerging church"... I think that a lot of what is trying to be accomplished in that "movement" is unity... granted it is not in the same manner as the "Fathers of the Restoration Movement" were, but I believe that it is still a guiding principle or core value in most groups that claim to be "emerging".
Just because it likely won't happen (universally), there is no good reason not to try! (Kind of like world peace... never going to happen, so why bother?)
Now I'm rambling.
